Lesson Book, Primer Level, Pg. 44, Dance Band
In this video, Randall Faber describes and demonstrates the use of arm weight as an important technique to be taught from the early lessons at the Primer level. This piece titled, The Dance Band, strategically offers repetition and review as it corresponds directly to the Technique and Artistry song titled, Dance Band Drummer. These pieces invite the student to have the left hand third finger spring off the key to set the downbeat and release weight from the shoulder.

Thanks so much for these excellent teaching techniques!

This has always been the hardest technical aspect for me to teach in the Primer books. I’d love to see a video of Nancy Faber teaching it!
