New Piano Adventures Player Puts Serious Fun in the Palm of Your Hand

Nancy and Randall Faber, pioneering authors and experts in the field of piano pedagogy, are pleased to announce the release of a new mobile app for Apple® iPhone and iPad. The app provides interactive accompaniments and play-along tracks for Piano Adventures® lesson, technique and performance books – bringing an orchestra, jazz ensemble and rock band right to your mobile device. Combining decades of pedagogical testing and research with the latest digital techologies, the app is an exciting new supplement to the Piano Adventures print library.

Piano Adventures Player works like a jukebox to accompany any acoustic piano or digital keyboard. Three screen views provide different modes of interactive learning – Keyboard View reinforces the student part, Notation View highlights the score and Mixer View lets you adjust volume and balance on four different channels – left hand, right hand, accompaniment and metronome. State-of-the-art instrumental sound samples deliver premium sound quality with a user interface that is elegantly designed and appropriate for all ages and instructional levels.

Practice tools include Loop Mode to rehearse difficult sections. Easily change tempo at any time with the pop-up Tempo Slider. Connect to a MIDI keyboard for additional features that enhance play-along and recording. Toggle between three different Follow Modes that intelligently adjust to track your tempo and dynamics. Listen back to your most recent performance and use Keyboard View for personal assessment.

The app is available as a free download from the Apple app store, and includes three free songs per level. Four levels are currently available (Primer, 1, 2A and 2B), with a total of 389 songs available for download. Full song libraries may be purchased for $4.99 per level. Plans are underway to add more levels and support for supplementary libraries. To learn more and download the free app, please visit

Hi – We love your books and the methodology but could you expand on the timeline for updating your app? My son really likes Piano Maestro which just uses the microphone so before I spend $70 on midi cords or Bluetooth is utilizing the microphone in your plan? If so when?

Great question! All functions of the app work without a MIDI connection, except for recording and follow modes. Microphone input is a good idea but we won’t have anything to announce regarding that technology in the near future. To make the optional MIDI connection today, depending on your keyboard, you may only need a basic USB cable and adapter, rather than a dedicated MIDI interface. For more information on connections, visit or send an email to and we’ll provide personalized recommendations.
