• This is a great step. What would be better, at least for me, would be digital versions that could be purchased, and used on something like SuperScore. Then, students could even purchase their own to use digitally if preferred. It would be a larger initial Investment, yet could be tailored to the desired volumes. Is that being considered? Thank you!!

• Can you access the music through Zoom to annotate during a lesson?

  • Yes, you are allowed to use the materials for demonstration purposes during online or remote learning sessions, but the audience or recipients should only consist of the class for which they were intended and not made publicly available. Students should have their own copies of the materials.

• I have reference copies of all my students’ method books, but I don’t always have copies of all their supplementary books–Pretime, Playtime, etc. It would be wonderful to have digital access to those.

• I agree with Sandy. If the supplemental books were included (PreTime through AdvancedTime; Developing Artist, Sight Reading, Scales, etc, it would be even better. I’d still prefer the option to purchase, though.

• Ughh, I’ve been slowly buying teacher’s copies and have additionally purchased all that are available on the PA player app, for a total cost of hundreds of dollars, so now I have all but, say, 4 books (one of which is not available on the PA player app, My first adventure book C). So I can buy the last few that I need for about $30, or subscribe to this.

  Just add finger numbers and articulation markings to the app, which we’ve already purchased! And add my first Piano adventures as well!! How many times and how many formats do I need to buy these things??? I don’t know why, but this makes me irrationally angry today, when we’re all struggling. Another subscription for $10/month? Do you know how much I’ve spent on these books, and how many students I’ve sent to to you to purchase copies???

  • Or free or discounted if you have already purchased the content of the current app (PA player). Each level is appr $6 on there, and you have digital content and backing tracks, BUT no finger numbers, pedal markings, dynamics, etc. for some reason. And it’s missing the “my first Piano adventure” series, although the music is there (each book comes with a cd anyway, but yes, you have to purchase the music on the app again; I purchased thinking the sheet music would be included, but it wasn’t.)

• It’s unfortunate that this is not offered for free for teachers during quarantine times. This transition has been so difficult, as many of us have fought to save our businesses and incomes with the sudden transition to online teaching. Now we are 6 weeks into it, so most of us have already bought the books we need, obtained old copies from students, or switched to other solutions more suited to current conditions. I understand the effort being made here, but it isn’t particularly helpful at this moment in time. Also, for those of us who have consistently sent you hundreds of customers over time, this feels a bit exploitative and inconsiderate. If you had offered this is a free perk during quarantine, we would feel appreciated and supported, and I bet many of us would feel even more committed to continuing to sell your books on the ground for years to come.

  • I have a teaching assistant also working remotely, and we have spent the last 6 weeks taking photos of the pages she needs in order to assist, and organizing them into files. Otherwise we would have had to purchase appr. 50 books for her to have her own set (the students have theirs and I have a teacher set). This process took many hours. We also ordered a couple more books that I didn’t have, but badly needed in order to teach, and I sent her copies from there to use digitally during the lessons.

    We also purchased a zoom subscription, nicer mics, and an additional keyboard to be moved to a non-central room in her home. This quarantine is costing us a fortune! I understand that’s not the fault of Piano adventures, but come on; this is not the best solution.

    I’ve also spent about $100 over the years downloading the audio tracking for each level on the app, but at least I get to keep those (my assistant can not use them because they are linked to my iTunes). I had all my students buy their own level to use instead. Many of them have sheet music as well, but it’s not usable by itself because it’s missing all the finger numbers and articulation. So this feels like a money grab!

    • *many of the tracks on the app have sheet music. ALL of my students have a set of their own books, of course. That sentence was unclear.

      I switched to Piano adventures exclusively because I love the app so much; I’ve always expected they’d update it with the missing pieces, but instead they’re offering a different product for additional $$$$$$

  • I agree. It’s unfortunate that this was not offered free, considering all the business we give to PA year after year. Many other businesses have been generous to small businesses (like piano studios) offering free services during this most difficult time.

• Your reply doesn’t address why the Piano Adventures app, which I have already purchased, doesn’t accommodate the need for digital sheet music. Why have you developed something separate to buy? I’m afraid there’s no good answer to that but $$. No, thank you.

  Let me know when you’ve made the sheet music on the app that I’ve already purchased usable. I’ve been waiting and waiting! Not waiting for a new product to buy. And yes, I already have teacher copies of MOST books, but am missing one or two here or there, mainly from the supplemental series as mentioned above. Students buy these themselves as an option, but I can’t afford to have every single book (Disney, PreTime, Classics, Hymns, etc.) for ever level. I like that those are options for my students, and I have purchased all of them on the app for my own use to “follow along.” I encourage students to buy these, but will stop doing so. We’ll use supplemental books from another author and publisher who is more dedicated to not making us buy it multiple times.

  And don’t get me started on how I began teaching right when you switched to 2nd edition. I spent my first paychecks buying teachers copies that had to all be replaced. Hundreds of more dollars. I just started forgiving you for that, but this is getting ridiculous. Mainly because you didn’t actually address my concerns in your reply. I’ve now bought 2 teacher sets, and a teacher set of the Piano Player app. One of these days I’ll add it up (I still have the old ones), but it’s probably nearing or over a thousand dollars. Just myself. Every one of my 106 students uses Piano Adventures also, and they all bought the PA Player app at the start of stay-at-home. They also all had to purchase replacement theory books because they had left theirs with me (we worked on them during a group class) and I just asked them to all buy replacements for their at-home lessons, which they did. How can you ask us for more money????

• I’m hoping someday that these will be available to purchase as e-books. Having to have physical copies for traveling Music teachers is a little behind the times. Many other publishers have both formats as options for purchase!

    Indeed, the accompaniments that you unlock in the Player app are companions to the printed Piano Adventures books, and do not include fingerings, dynamics, articulations, phrase marks, or lyrics–just the notes to help find your place and set loop points.

    For the Popular, Classics, Christmas, and Hits book songs, the digital sheet music is presented complete with fingerings, dynamics, articulations, phrase marks, lyrics, etc. For those, it is possible to use the app as a standalone whether you have the matching printed book or not.

    Apple does not provide a way to link the physical book purchase to the digital content, so we made the app free to try, with value-priced in-app content purchases. Consider the in-app purchase to cover the cost of the Player app’s sophisticated interactive features, such as controlling volume, parts, and balance, adjusting tempo, and more. If you connect the app to a MIDI keyboard, you’ll be able to take advantage of additional advanced features like Follow Mode, where the app tracks your tempo, Wait for Note mode, where the app waits for you to play the correct note, and Play Recording mode, where the app plays back your performance for your self-critique.

    Regarding the freely accessible My First Piano Adventure audio (which is also available on our website), we made a special MP3 playback mode so we could preserve the fun lyrics and energetic voices of children. It uses different technology than the original MIDI mode of the app. While it does not support the MIDI in/out and follow/wait modes, it does have a similar tempo slider to adjust to any speed. It also has a convenient Autoplay mode so you can listen to the whole book of songs without stopping.

• This is a very nice idea and it is something I would be willing to pay a little bit for as a one-time purchase, but I would not be willing to sign up for a monthly fee to get access. If you change the pricing to a one-time fee, please let me know!

• I have paid for the piano adventure teacher’s atlas on May 4. I am unable to see the books. I can only hear the interactive music of the book. What do I need to do?
