Hi, everyone, I hope that you all have had a good Independence Day. The reason that I posted this topic was because this issue was inmportant to me as a parent, a US Citizen, and a concerned American, who does not want a judge using international law to determine the outcome of any case.

I also do not believe that any child should be abused, or mistreated in any fashion, and I would report any act I saw that warranted it. This issue is important to me, & I do feel that we an amendment, if you disagree, that is fine, but I would encourage you to do your own research (parentalrights.org) offers several articles on their website that are made available to the public. If I find other articles online, that talke about both sides, I'll try to post them as well. Have a nice evening, everyone, and thanks for reading!

After watching 5 minutes, I'm sure not wasting 30 more watching the rest of that crazy video. There are a lot of parents who really don't deserve parental rights.

Just thought I'd add this link for those interested.

UN Rights of the Child

random comments:

unreal, you're right, dreadful music.

Loved the nice young lawyer vrs the middle aged woman lawyer scene. (she looked mean)

Wonder why the doctor office parents didn't just ask their son to sign for the records, or why he wasn't comfortable with speaking up and asking for his parents to see the report. (After all the law is set up to protect children, not deny them the opportunity to go to their parents for help. And, doctors are set up to help with any awkward discussion.)

The book "My Two Dads" . . . Probably could have done with less than 10 minutes of that. Very over acted recreation. (even more overacted than the rest of the movie)

GailS - yeah, while I was watching that dr.'s office scene, I was wondering the same thing. Why didn't that dr. ask the child if he wanted his parents to know the test results? Why didn't those parents just tell their son to tell the dr. to let them see his test results? THEN, they could have gone about trying to change the legislation. What actually was going through my mind was the scenario that if that were my son and I was standing there being told "No.", all those patients sitting in that waiting room would hear me say to my son, "As long as you are living in my house, eating my food, I WILL see those test results. Now, kindly instruct Dr. NoGood here to hand over those test results, please." And then I would go find me another family dr.
