Has anyone taught Album for the Young, Op.43 by Lowell Libermann? I'm probably way behind discovering this treasure, but Ican't wait to have it in my hands and teach it.

I have! It's WONDERFUL. My favorites are Boogieman and the Hommage a Alkan. Rhino is also good, and the first is a good study in articulation.

Piano at Pepper has it. Just search for "Liebermann" - it was on the second page of results when I looked.

I found it, thanks. But, at what level is his music? There are no samples to preview.
I love your quote Jason.

They're at an intermediate level. The Bartok/Prokofiev type of intermediate, not the extremely-tonal-sounds-normal everything-fits-a-pattern type of intermediate you find in a lot of supplemental repertoire.
Think Celebration Series Book 5. And be ready for lots of accidentals and funny sounding melodies and harmonies. Liebermann's language is somewhat similar to Prokofiev, Muczynski and Shostakovich. Students I've had play Liebermann have also played from Muczunski's Diversions and Fables.

I just had a student play Muczynski Prelude No.6 - fabulous!!
Yes, the harmonic language of these is quite different than what you find in average intermediate repertoire. More open tonal sounds, if that makes sense.
