Truer words were never spoken, Gail. Thanks to both you and pianoannie for your eloquence. I am going to print off your words of wisdom and memorize them. Anyone who thinks it isn’t affecting them (not even taking into account an emotional tab) can run up the financial tab on cleaning up the mess that a bit of warmer coastal waters have already created. [/QB]

After seeing "An Inconvenient Truth" and hearing Gore speak, I left the theater exclaiming with profound sadness, "We could have had an intelligent President!". I would have a tad more respect for our current president if I ever heard him speak with the eloquence, understanding, and knowledge base of Clinton & Gore.

They've had hurricanes EVERY YEAR in those areas- even before all this PC global warming garbage hit the media. If they didn't want to live where the hurricanes were a problem they didn't have to. Those people knew it was a threat and what could potentially happen by living in those geographic regions. To me that's like saying people who live near volcanic mountains that erupt should blame global warming or the media or computers or whatever when they knew all along that living near one what could happen should it erupt. Better yet, let's build a house directly on a railroad track and when the train comes by and smashes into it and people die or are injured blame the phone company or realitor. Stop passing the buck to everything else all the time in blame. Yes, it's a shame what happened to those people in the hurricanes, but it's also a fact of live in that part of the world and the US.

Violet, and I mean no offense, what you just stated as fact about the Gulf Coast (where I have lived and my husband grew up) is PURE BALONEY and TOTALLY INACCURATE. Please get your facts right (from a scientific source vs. the voices in your head) before stating more untruths. Thank you, I feel much better now.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were hearing voices in your head. What a shame. Look at a map my dear, it is simple geography. There is no science in it.

OK, what did I miss about Violet and the Gulf Coast? Good grief, having been raised in Texas I'm familiar with the threat of hurricanes and tornadoes. These threats are common and people who live there know the risks; just as those of us who live in California know that any day now the "Big One" will happen and my town in central California will end up being beachfront property.
I don't really have a problem with the concept of global warming. I just take issue with the environmental-wacko load of cr**p that says that 'evil man', no I take that back... 'evil white man'... no wait... 'evil white man in the USA, headed by GW Bush' is destroying the earth.
The earth has been warming up since the Ice Age. Hurricanes come in cycles. There are scientists on both sides of the issue that spout evidence of their position. Because I choose to believe one scientific thought over another does not make me close-minded.

Looks like it's not only the weather that's heating up. Looks like a few "ladies" need to take a chill pill. Cool down y'all.
The wonderful part of being an American is the right to free speech. Yes, that means EVERYONE has that right. What you don't have the right to do is to "cram your ideas into someone else's head and DEMAND they believe what you believe". Let's all just agree to disagree - even though I find "one of you" totally ridiculous! Your thoughts are as if this old world will only be around for a few more years so what's the point of changing anything???? Pull your head out!

Wow... I missed a lot of good stuff...
Well, to put things back on topic, and to make all of you hate me, I am currently in Brevard, NC, where I am residing on full scholarship at the Brevard Music Festival and where it rarely gets above eighty. And, did I mention that I get to practice eight hours a day and go to a concert every night... for free?

;-) Sounds great ars! I just got back from 2 weeks in NC, but it was a whole heckuva lot hotter than 80 degrees where we were! I heard someone say it was 107 one day. I could hardly get through my stack of John Grisham and other novels, because I had to jump in the pool about every other minute. (there's a point for the global warming side)
