The first one might be PostMortem. I'm not sure - the Extremely Evil Omaha Lutheran Minister's Stoopid Wife (from my former churchly life  ) borrowed it from me once and apparently never returned it. A P O X on them both, I say, although he has certain prostate issues, I hear, and doesn't need it. (Sorry for the rant, but I HATE book borrowers who don't return them!)

You can go to amazon and do a search, asking it to give titles to you by publication date. If you like mysteries you will love, love, love early Scarpetta, Dan.

Speaking of amazon, I need to go check and see if there's any recent Sara Paretsky's I've missed. I love the V.I. Warshawskis also.

Carole, Grace, & Vivace: After you get BLowfly read, please report back. I'm DYING ;\) to know what you think of it. And have you gals read any of Kathy Reichs? I have the first 3 in paperback but have never started 'em. Thanx in advance.

I am still waiting on the library.... \:\( Her first three books are Postmortem, Body of Evidence and All That Remains. I have these three (complete novels) in a collection I got at a book store sale for probably ten dollars. I need to go back and re-read them. I have read Kathy Reichs but cannot remember the names (seems like I have read one or two-is one of her books Deja Dead?). I also like John Nance, but his books are more aviation disaster-stuff. Like John Grisham as well!

Dan, Read the Cornwell books in order! Lisa, I haven't gotten my hands on Blowfly yet. I'm looking forward to it! Did you ever get into reading Jonathan Kellerman? I'm currently reading the latest Harry Potter book. I had to wait for the rest of the family to finish, and it took my 9 year old a wee while to read a book that's 870 pages long! I'm proud of him for sticking with it.

Just finished Blow Fly. The library came through. Needed to go back and re-read the last one or two because I had forgotten some of what went on previously. I don't want to give anything away to those who haven't read it yet, but I will say that this is very dark. Of course, I think they all have gradually gone that way, each a little worse. There were definitely some SURPRISES . I got a little tired of the graphic details. The funny thing is when I got Blow Fly, I had started to re-read Postmortem, the first. I like the earlier books better.

My dad just passed on some old Perry Mason books to me, written by Erle Stanley Gardner. I used to love the show. Later I fell in love with Matlock. Anyway, I am reading THE CASE OF THE HOWLING DOG. Kind of fun to read. This book was written in 1934. That's the copyright.

I decided against reading "Blowfly" after reading a few reviews.
I just bought Jeffrey Deaver's "The Empty Chair". Did anyone read "Bone Collector" ?
Scary Boo......

The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency is by Alexander McCall SMITH, though some bookstores list this author by McCall (perhaps there are too many Smiths!). The second book is "Tears of the Giraffe", and the third is "Morality for Beautiful Girls". The fourth book is "The Kalahari Typing School for Men", and the fifth book will be out about April of '04.

Lisa, it's interesting that you had a cousin who went to Baker---yes, I was a Music Major there many years ago, and then did some graduate work at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. Recently went to a Yamaha workshop for using electronic keyboards given by Susan Ogilvie from North Texas. It was a delight to find that we had both had the same Piano Pedagogy teacher! He is in his 80's, still travelling to do "gigs" in L.A. New York, etc. He and Susan record duo-piano with electronic instrumentation, and give the CD's away for donations. The money goes to allow musical study for children who could not afford lessons otherwise---what a great thing to be doing!

Have a super Thanksgiving, everyone!

I just finished "The DaVinci Code", and then "Angels and Demons". Thought they were great. Anyone else here read them? I give them 2 thumbs up

yes -- loved Da Vinci Code. Couldn't put it down and learned a lot about the Louvre and other locations central to the book. Is Angels and Demons along the same lines as Da Vinci Code? Which one did you like best?
